Cannabis: The Next Big Thing in Beauty!?

As a beauty blogger I never imagined I would be writing about weed or typing it into the search bar of Space NK! But yes, according to forecasts cannabis is the next huge beauty trend. Just recently Holland & Barrett are the first UK high street store to make cannabis oil available.

Don't worry, your morning skincare routine isn't about to be sending you off to work 'high'! The most commonly known type of cannabis is THC - the psychoactive (illegal) bit which gives users a 'high'. However, there are other chemicals to be extracted from the plant which are totally legal and have huge benefits without the added buzz.

You will probably be familiar with 'Hemp' which has been used by the beauty industry for many years. Hemp is a cannabis sativa plant that has high levels of vitamins A, C and E and is rich in omegas.

Another oil, which is being raved about at the moment is CBD which is from the flowers of the cannabis plant. CBD as an antioxidant is even more powerful than Vitamin C, E, A, or omega. It protects the skin from free radicals, like UV rays, smoke and environmental pollutants which are all critical in anti-ageing. People are also using CBD for acne treatment due to it's anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. There are even studies on the benefits to skin conditions such as eczema, moles and warts.

So, where can you find products infused with these skin-loving ingredients!? I have gone in search and found some very interesting products we can all try. If you're not yet convinced to try this on your body this new 'it' ingredient is also available in personal and home fragrances - but don't worry it doesn't smell how you expect it!
